“Eat your carrots!” – remember that? Most all of us can remember our parents or grandparents demanding that we eat our carrots because they are good for our eyes. Well, they were right, but their advice turns out to be just the tip of the carrot tops!
At Arizona’s Vision Eye Care Center, we know that the best eye health is achieved when our patients are healthy. Further, the medical literature and our clinical experience continues to show the importance of personalized nutrition because:
What you think is healthy may not be healthy for you.
This is why we are proud to introduce our newest program, “become your own Nutritional Genius” and we invite you to watch the following video to learn more:
Find out what to eat in abundance, moderation or to avoid.
NUTRITIONAL GENIUS VIDEO
When you perform the Nutritional Genius testing, you will have up to 200 foods analyzed and broken down into what to eat in abundance, moderation or to avoid based on your genetics and food sensitivities. You will also receive targeted vitamins and supplements in personalized custom packs to fill in nutritional gaps and support your biochemistry.
Your results are based on the two following simple tests:
Based on the $4B human genome project, this test analyzes certain genetics that have to do with crucial bodily functions, such as controlling DNA, inflammation, immune function, detoxification and mood balancing.
It is very common for people to be sensitive to foods they eat frequently without knowing it. Often a person will find that the foods they crave the most are the very ones causing their symptoms. Your results will include fruits, vegetables, fish, meats, dairy, even coffee and chocolate.

AM I CANDIDATE TO BECOME MY OWN NUTRITIONAL GENIUS?
If you are experiencing or have a family history of any of the following conditions, we invite you to consider becoming your own Nutritional Genius as it can help give you a strong foundation to optimize your health and help prevent or defer future eye and related health conditions:
Macular Degeneration
Diabetes
Glaucoma
Uveitis
Behavioral Conditions/ADHD
Chronic Fatigue
Autism/Asperger’s
Migraine/Headaches
Heart Disease
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Autoimmune Conditions
IBS
Parkinson’s Disease
Alzheimer’s Disease
The cause of the conditions above are complex and involve genetics, environment, risk factors like smoking and diet and in many cases are related to one another. We can’t control our genetics, but what we can do is change how we live our lives and what we eat.
This test provides insight into crucial body functions that are related to our every day quality of life. These include how your body processes foods, detoxification, immune function, mood balancing, bone health/density maintenance, controlling inflammation, energy production and maintaining DNA.
This test looks for specific variations in your DNA called single nucleotide polymorphisms or SNP’s (pronounced SNIPS). A SNP can be compared to a “misspelling” in your genetic code and SNP’s account for a great majority of human genetic differences – including how efficient we are at key body processes. Based on the results from this test, you will receive personalized:
•Nutritional Recommendations: Your results include a guide on what foods should be eaten in abundance, moderation, or to avoid.
•Nutraceutical Recommendations: Your results also provide recommended nutraceuticals and nutritional aides to support your personal biochemistry where genetic SNP’s are discovered.
Results typically take 4-6 weeks once received by the laboratory.
It is very common for people to be sensitive to foods they eat frequently without knowing it. You may be thinking, “so what’s the problem if I eat these foods, if I don’t notice any symptoms?” Eating foods you are sensitive to creates a cumulative effect and can increase inflammation— a silent killer. Silent inflammation is a condition that occurs when the body’s natural immune response goes awry. It can go undetected for years, continually assaulting the brain, heart and immune system. Interestingly, a person will often find that the foods they crave are the very ones causing their symptoms.
It is amazing how often we hear our aspiring Nutritional Geniuses tell us that they are taking certain supplements because they were “good for my friend” or “they read it in a magazine”. This doesn’t make too much sense to us when each of us is so uniquely different.
Being your own Nutritional Genius includes filling the gaps in your nutrition and supporting your body’s deficiencies. If we all ate perfectly, then vitamins and supplements probably wouldn’t exist. However, today’s combination of busy lifestyle, quality of soil, food processing and longer lifespan make nutraceuticals a great method to support our bodies.
This is why xR provides you with a personalized custom pack. It not only provides convenience and compliance – each pack is individualized completely to you and contains the highest quality products. Finally, you can stop the guesswork and truly be your own Nutritional Genius.
Always keep in mind that supplementing is not enough. If you continue to eat foods that are not healthy for you, then no amount of supplements will probably help you achieve your health goals.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Nutritional Genius a diet? Will I lose weight?
Nutritional Genius was not designed to be a weight loss program; however, we will not be surprised if you do. When our clients become educated and eat the right foods, we often hear how they have more energy, become more active and achieve their healthy weight. You may find that just by making minor nutritional modifications and maintaining an active lifestyle – you will see results.
Should I become a Nutritional Genius before trying any diet?
Absolutely. Your results will apply to any diet. For example, you shouldn’t go on the cabbage soup diet if your results show you have a genetic or food sensitivity to cabbage! If you are going to try a vegetarian/vegan diet, at least you will know which non-animal foods to eat in abundance, moderation or avoid to maximize your results.
If the results tell me to avoid certain foods, does that mean I have to stop eating them forever?
The short answer is no; and this should be discussed with your healthcare professional. The reason why is because each person is HIGHLY unique and epigenetic wellness may be affecting their lives in various ways. For some patients, foods listed as “Avoid” may trigger painful migraines, joint pain and other medical conditions. For others, the “Avoid” foods may have minor impact – however over time, it could compound and result in medical conditions.
When will the results return?
The results can take up to 5 weeks to return and you will be notified when they do.
If I follow my nutritional recommendations, do I need to take the supplements/nutraceuticals?
This is a personal decision, and you have the ultimate authority on what to follow and what nutraceuticals to take. However, we do recommend that you speak with your healthcare professional and be fully informed as to why the nutraceuticals were recommended before making a decision.
Do I have to retake these tests in the future?
The GEMS DNA Test only needs to be done once in your life and your results tells us something about your parents. A double mutation/double SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) means that each of your parents had the SNP which was passed on to you. What we don’t know is if they had a single or double SNP.
The Food Sensitivity Test is an excellent way to see what you are sensitive to in your current way of eating. Therefore, if you are to drastically change your diet, you may want to think about retaking the Food Sensitivity test again in the future.
How long does it take to feel any results?
Results vary for each individual. If you already eat healthy, are not experiencing any medical conditions and exercise, the Nutritional Genius results should help guide your nutritional decisions, and we do not expect any drastic results. However, if you have unhealthy nutritional habits, don’t exercise, are overweight, and are experiencing fatigue and medical conditions, your results may be more noticeable.
